Project: 7 Computers for Computer Lab
Submitted: September 2017
Solicitor: Local Open Arms of Heart to Honduras Church
Location: El Ocote, Zacapa, Santa Barbara, Honduras
Project Justification: Why do you need the project?
Our school currently has a computer technology learning area, but our current computers have completed their life cycle, and we are not able to continue to teach our children how to use computers.
Supervisor’s Note: This school currently has 10 computers, of which only three are currently functioning. Most of this is due to the age of the computers (12 years old). The equipment is outdated, but has clearly been maintained very well. This learning lab is air-conditioned and is attended to by a computer technician provided by the municipal government. Altogether, this is an unusually advanced school for the area and it is well worth the effort to continue supporting such a valuable learning opportunity.
General Objective: What do you hope to achieve with the project?
To provide computer and technological knowledge to the 90 children that attend our school from 1-6 grades.
Beneficiaries: Who and how many will continually benefit from this project?
Approximately 90 children and 5 teachers.
The local municipal government will provide a technician to maintain the equipment (~$1000).
The local school will provide $210 for the purchase of the computers in addition to the already-furnished computer lab.
Remaining funds for the purchase are requested from an outside donor ($1210).
