Dear Prayer Partners
Since I am leaving for Honduras on June 28 and not returning until July 12, I am sending this prayer email a bit early and asking that you keep it with your devotional materials for the next couple of weeks. I know you have received a lot of prayer emails in the past 10 days, as we have been holding up the Los Globos community since the accident which claimed two lives in their congregation. Thank you for standing with us before the throne of God on behalf of Heart to Honduras.
We want to give praise to the Lord for recent blessings:
· For saving the life of Bill DeJong, leader of the teams which go to Honduras to build and improve public schools. Earlier this week, Bill was already checked in for a flight related to his business when he realized that his hands were tingling. When he put that together with some other symptoms he’d been having he decided to get out of the boarding line and go to a hospital. At the hospital they ended up doing emergency surgery and putting stints in two 90% blocked arteries! Boarding that flight probably would have been fatal. Praise the Lord for bringing Bill’s mind to focus on his symptoms and realize what he needed to do!
· We are also still praising the Lord for bringing another of our team leaders, Doug Endsley, safely through his stint surgery last Thursday. Doug heads up the construction and architectural team which is overseeing plans for the camp at Lake Yure, among other projects in Honduras.
· It is so awesome that God has placed a North American team in Los Globos for this coming week. Their Sister Church from Colorado has faithfully visited them one or more times a year for many years, and therefore we have not been scheduling other teams to go there. But in God’s providence, He set it up for a team whose church specializes in prayer ministry, to be in Los Globos just two weeks after their tragedy! What a mighty, awesome, all-knowing God we serve!
In the following days, please pray for:
- German Pinell who is spending June 26 – July 2 in Vienna, Austria because he won a trip to the World Soccer championships! Pray for his safety, and a great time of relaxation for this young man who carries a lot of responsibility for the ministry on his shoulders.
- The family of Pastor Jorge Cisneros of Las Conchas in the death of his wife’s mother.
· The team from Mt. Zion church in Ohio as they minister in Los Globos to these hurting people.
o Pray that they will be protected from any schemes of Satan to prevent their being able to bless this congregation and community.
o Pray for Dr. and Mrs. Leithold as they minister medically to the community, that this outreach will win more people over to the love of Christ.
o Pray that the new Christians there will be strengthened in their faith in spite of the tragedy.
o Pray for the two widows and the orphaned children left behind by the death of these worship leaders.
o Pray for healing for physical and emotional and spiritual scars.
· Also pray for the team from Lexington, Kentucky as they meet their Sister Church in Horconcito and begin to build relationships with them. Pray that the outreaches they have planned will bring more people into the Kingdom and that everyone will “connect” in this new Sister Church relationship.
· Pray for the team from Christ Community Church in Florida as they work with the church in Santa Rita, helping to clean up the property and paint the building. Bless their community outreach efforts through VBS and a spaghetti dinner, that the congregation will grow and that relationships will build.
· During the week beginning July 7, pray for me (Carol Lynne) as I teach the International Discipleship Students a seminar on storytelling to children in the church. Pray that they will understand my Spanish-with-a-southern-accent-and-bad-grammar, and be able to learn the content in spite of my shortcomings!
I know this is a lot to pray for, and way too much to remember, so I hope you will print it and keep it handy. I’ll be sending out praises when I return!
