FAQ’s Regarding the Sponsorship Program for the Heart to Honduras School of Discipleship
What does sponsorship mean?
This program has three main components:
1. Financial support : $300 per month/$3600 per year per student
2. Prayer support: You and your assigned student pray regularly for the requests you send each other
3. Personal support : You and your student
- exchange photos, prayer requests, and information about yourselves in January
- correspond a half dozen times during the year
- You send a congratulatory note or gift for November graduation.
- You are encouraged to send a card, note, or small gift for their birthday also.
What is an appropriate gift?
Spanish cd’s or devotional books, a Bible cover, Christian jewelry or other Christian gift item, a handmade craft item are suggestions. (From your support funds, two books will be given in your name during the year: An Illustrated Bible Dictionary, and a Quest Study Bible.)
What if I don’t speak and read Spanish? How do I write to someone in Honduras?
All funds and correspondence should be sent through the Heart to Honduras office:

Mark checks “SOD support”. (Check our website www.hth.org for information on giving online or automatic withdrawal.) Letters may also be emailed to prayer@hth.org . These will be translated and forwarded to your student, and the reply translated and sent to you by your choice of mail or email.
What if I can’t do all three components?
If you wish to support the SOD program, but cannot do all three of the components, please let us know. Perhaps you wish to give financially, but would be glad if someone else made the personal contacts through letter writing. Others may wish to participate, but can not afford to give financially.
What is the time frame of my commitment?
Commitments are for one or two years. Students study in Canchias from January of one year through November of the following year. Therefore, a commitment of $3,600 would cover the first year of study; $7,200 would cover the full two years. This can be paid in a lump sum, $1,200 quarterly, or $300 monthly.
