The country to Honduras does not require any specific vaccinations for entry. There is a higher incidence of certain diseases in Honduras such as measles, polio, cholera, dengue fever, typhoid fever, and hepatitis. Routine vaccinations should be up to date for adults and children. These include:
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
- DPT (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus) – Tetanus needs to be updates every 10 years.
- Poliovirus
- Varicella (chickenpox)
Consult your personal health care provider who will determine what you will need based on your health and immunization history. Speak to them about the areas of the country you plan to visit and your planned activities. To receive the most benefit from your immunizations, see your health care provider at least 4-6 weeks prior to departure. This allows the vaccines time to take effect and for you to begin taking ant-malarial medication if needed.
