Trip Preparations

Getting ready to go on a short-term mission trip is a big undertaking. At the very least, 10 people at Heart to Honduras (probably more) have worked on preparations for your team. You have put time, money, prayer and thought into the decision to go. Your team leader has spent significant time planning, coordinating and encouraging people to go. God Himself has been working in your life for years to prepare you for this experience. Now it is finally going to happen. But before that plane leaves the airport you have to get yourself ready.

The Fieldworker’s manual is designed to walk you through your trip. The sections of the website that are listed under “Getting Ready for Your Trip” are all taken from the manual. Our desire is to help answer as many questions as possible for you about the trip. You will find packing lists, instructions for filling out paperwork, useful Spanish words and helpful information about the country you will be visiting and the ministry you will see. By carefully reading the whole manual you will be well on your way to being prepared to step on the plane and leave the country.

But there is one thing that you need to prepare more than anything else, and that is your heart. Whether this is your first mission trip or your hundredth one, God wants to do something exciting in your life through this experience. God will use you to change the lives of those you meet in Honduras. But just as importantly He wants to change your life. Take the time to prepare your heart and mind for the wonderful work God is planning for you to do and for you to experience. Once you are ready – bags packed and heart open – all you will have to do is enjoy the ride.
