Jenny Kast – Children’s Home Project Director

Jenny works with Heart to Honduras as the Children’s Home Project Coordinator which serves two children’s homes – Nueva Esperanza in San Pedro Sula and Proniño in El Progreso. The Children’s Home Project seeks to show the love of Jesus by facilitating an increase of love, safety, nourishment and hope in the lives of the 300+ children that live in these two homes. Jenny is working with a Honduran employee to strengthen a volunteer program as well as leading North American teams to the centers.
Jenny and her husband, Sean started serving with Heart to Honduras in September of 2009 as full-time missionaries working with the camp and on logistics in the main office in San Isidro. Mid-way through the year Jenny and Sean got involved with Nueva Esperanza and heard an undeniable call to become deeply involved in the lives of these precious and disadvantaged children. Jenny spent most of her childhood in New Philadelphia, OH then studied Social Work at Malone University. After graduation she headed to South Carolina to serve with Americorps NCCC where she met her soon(ish) to be husband. He stole her heart by literally carrying her all over Tennessee and New Orleans after she fell off a roof, breaking her foot in 25 places.
After returning from Honduras in November 2010, they now live in Phoenix, AZ with their two dogs – Story and Chamaco Flaco el Catracho (Skinny Honduran Rascal). They enjoy camping, hiking reading, eating, puzzles and a rousing game of Dutch Blitz every now and then.
