Location of Project: Community of La Concepcion, Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Cortes, Honduras.

Project Justification: Why do you need the project?

The families included in this project do not have an appropriate area to store water or wash their clothes. Due to these circumstances, the families must deal with constant water shortages that could be remedied by the construction of a pila.

Supervisor’s Note: A pila is a simple concrete water storage basin. These basin’s allow a family to practice basic hygiene, wash dishes, and maintain an adequate amount of water to weather common temporary water shortages.

General Objective: What do you hope to achieve with the project?

  1. Avoid wasteful use of water.
  2. Improve the quality of life of these families.

Development Strategies How are you planning to execute the project?

  1. Assure that all legal documents are in order.
  2. Socialize (explain and present) this project with:Local church, Community Council, Community Water Board, Municipality, Sister Church from the US.
  3. Utilize local resources like: stone, sand, blocks, and labor.
  4. Seek the support of: Local church, Community Water Board, municipality, and brothers from the US..
  5. The project will be executed under the supervision of the Department of Community Development.

Direct Beneficiaries:  Who and how many will continually benefit from this project?

12 families.

Indirect Beneficiaries:  Who and how many will occasionally benefit from this project?

Friends and other families that will visit.

Collaboration:

  1. The local mayor is providing the blocks and sand ($670).
  2. The beneficiary is providing the stone and manual labor ($480).
  3. The local church will provide 12 bags of cement ($100).
  4. Additional building materials and mason’s payment are needed from an outside donor.

Don’t pass up an opportunity to be part of this worthy project just because you are not able to fund the entire project! Heart to Honduras will gladly accept any amount you can put towards this project and then continue seeking out additional sponsors.
